| Description: | Originally built as a Woolworth Department Store, this building has been used by various retail, banking and office tenants. JOSEPH's task was to transform the facility into a state of the art laboratory and corporate headquarters for a genetics testing company.
Complete renovation also involved removal of asbestos, updating of electrical service, detailed coordination of HVAC, lighting and sprinkler system to accommodate restricted height of existing ceiling. Engineering was required to remove earth near footings of existing multi-story building. Variances were required to use fire exits throughout the existing building and to use existing ramps to meet ADA requirements. |
